Joseph W. Dauben is Distinguished Professor of History and History of Science at the City University of New York. He is the author of biographies of Georg Cantor and Abraham Robinson, and most recently, a three-volume Chinese-English dual-language edition of the ancient Chinese classic, The Nine Chapters on the Art of Mathematics (2013), written in collaboration with Guo Shuchun and Xu Yibao. In January of 2012 he received the American Mathematical Society's Albert Leon Whiteman Memorial Prize for History of Mathematics.
